Today is a day to celebrate that Mushtaraka has completed 40 years of services in the P&I field in particular, and the Maritime industry in general. It is with great pride and joy that we achieve this milestone.

Throughout the years we learned from every case we handled, every problem we resolved, and supported each other in the most difficult of times, especially during the COVID-19 look-down. We always knew the direction to steer, aware that sometimes the course is not always a straight line, but with perseverance, expertise, and innovative thinking, we managed to make this journey easier.

I wanted to look back at the last 40 years to highlight the progress the company has made with your efforts. It is a matter of great pride to see our company achieve more than we ever expected. We started in Saudi Arabia, expanding to Sudan, Iraq, Yemen Somalia, Eritrea, and UAE. We are currently working on expansion to Oman, possibly to Tanzania and Kenya. We have gained more listings from the P&I clubs in all of the Saudi Ports. Also being listed by several P&I clubs in all the areas in which we operate, with the expectation of more to come in the near future.

Our esteemed clients recognise the differentiated value we bring to them in terms of superior service, innovative solutions, and prompt response to their needs. They also recognise our contribution to the local industry and the larger maritime society in the various areas where we operate. We, therefore, need to continue to build on their trust.

Today we are the leading correspondent in the region, being listed in all of the countries where we operate. We need to compliment our efforts year by year to achieve resulting expansion of our network. The overall market will continue to be more competitive, and we need to continuously improve to stay ahead of the competition, and achieve our goals.

There are a number of people whom I wish to thank on this auspicious day, from the bottom of my heart. First of all, the founders of the group, our ex-group chairman, may God have mercy on him, Sheikh Abdul Hamed Bokhari, our inspiring Chairman Dr. Mohammed Bokhari, and our ex- Group General Manager, Mr. Mark Galloway, whom they have worked tirelessly to help this organisation reach the zenith of success. Mark and the team made tremendous efforts, overcoming the difficulties of communication, enduring the expansion of the network, and facing the hardships of travelling to the difficult jurisdictions in the old days.

My special thanks are extended to the team which include, Mr. Mahmood Mattar, Mr. Awad Garshoum, Mr. Nizamuddn Ahmed, and Capt. Larry Heron,  who have all contributed effortlessly, and faced various obstacles over the 40 years, to achieve what we initially thought was impossible. I am proud that I have spent nearly 30 years of my life learning from such an inspiring, highly experienced team, who no doubt have contributed, and continue to increase my knowledge of the P&I world. Our company has become a shining example amongst the other correspondents in the region, by creating quality services to be provided to our clients.

I would also like to thank every member of our current team in our group offices, and our partners in the group for 40 remarkable years of friendship, and hard work. We absolutely couldn’t have achieved it without you all. Let’s keep it going and growing.

Our core values remain the guiding principles for everything we do, and I would like to emphasise two fundamental beliefs which drive the success of our operations:

Quality: Mushtaraka is known for excellent service delivery across the region. We need to be passionate about exceeding our client’s expectations. We aim to, and need to pleasantly satisfy them with our punctual response, our motivated claims handlers who can professionally solve the problems. All of us contribute to this image of impeccable service delivery, and I would like all of us to accept nothing but the top position in every country we operate.

As I keep emphasising to every office of our group, we should all be proud of our achievements and be confident in who we are, our future is extremely bright and exciting. Working together as one team will make us exceed our goals. Therefore, all of us must believe in cultural compatibility which requires a strong belief in the culture of institutional work, which includes values, goals, honesty, mastery, and enjoyment of the spirit of teamwork. The same applies to passionate compatibility, which requires that we all agree on passion and love for work, that our work be our passion and our cause.

On this auspicious day, we promise all our employees to be friendly and supportive to them, as we have been over the past years. We promise to help you all whenever necessary. So let’s look forward to another amazing 40 years, taking strong professional relationships even further, to taking our group to greater heights. As we all take time to express gratitude and celebrate the fantastic 40 years gone by, let’s turn eagerly to the years that lie ahead. We might not know what’s going to happen in the next 40 years, but we are sure we will keep working and focused on providing the best and most reliable service to our clients.

Finally, I would like to wish your families a very blessed and exceptional time ahead, and extend my sincere gratitude to them for being part of this very inspiring journey.
