From insurance and claims to risk management, compliance, and port agency support ,we provide complete end-to-end solutions.
At Mutual Marine Services Al Mushtaraka, we are more than a service provider , we are problem-solvers, risk managers, and trusted partners to insurers, shipowners, and maritime businesses. Our strength lies in our ability to act fast, coordinate locally, and deliver expert guidance across disciplines. In serious accidents or incidents, we often act as the local coordinator, managing both the practical and legal requirements. These are what we call our “fire brigade services”, a core strength of the Mushtaraka Group.
Complementing this is our second pillar of strength: Maritime Services. Through Ship Agency and Risk Management, our focus is on prevention, helping clients avoid the very scenarios that demand emergency intervention. The interdisciplinary nature of our work requires highly skilled professionals with the right mindset to serve the industry. In this respect, the Al Mushtaraka Team and its Knowledge Pool consistently outperform competitors.
When is a P&I Correspondent needed?
He steps in whenever the schedule of a merchant marine vessel is in jeopardy by a “P&I type” incident.
What does a P&I correspondent do?
If an owner or a master of a merchant marine vessel or its 3rd party liability insurer needs locally urgent assistance or advice, be it with the release of a ship under arrest for an incident covered by the 3rd party liability insurer, or be it with the handling of local authorities, immigration or a claimant or thousands of other casualty related scenarios, the service of a Correspondent is needed.
Mutual Marine Services al Mustharaka acts as P&I correspondent for all IG Group P&I clubs in one or the other jurisdiction and for the vast majority of all other 3rd party liability insurers.
Mushtaraka is the appointed Lloyd’s Agent in Sudan
As per Lloyd’s definition,
A Lloyd’s Agent is appointed by the Lloyd’s Agency Department to supply local shipping information and casualty intelligence , to provide surveying and, in most instances, claim adjusting services to the global insurance industry and its customers. Lloyd’s Agents are appointed for their professionalism and expertise.
A Lloyd’s Agent is required whenever insurers, shipowners, or cargo interests need reliable local expertise to handle maritime incidents or obtain trustworthy information.
What does a Lloyd’s Agent do?
He provides local shipping intelligence, casualty reports, surveys, and claim adjusting services. Appointed for their professionalism and credibility, Lloyd’s Agents support the global insurance industry and its clients whenever quick and accurate action is needed.
We act as a “one-stop shop” for claims. From the incident until final settlement and recovery, we handle the process with diligence and care. Clients can engage us on a case-by-case basis for claims management packages. We offer claims management on a case-by-case basis or as a package deal.
It is needed whenever an incident or accident results in financial loss, liability, or damage that must be professionally handled from start to finish.
What does Claims Management do?
We manage claims from the time the incident occurs until settlement or recovery is completed. Acting as a “one-stop shop,” we handle the entire process with diligence, whether on a single-case basis or as part of a tailor-made package for our clients.
Mutual Marine Services al Mushtaraka not only offer claims management but also the entire risk management. It starts at an earlier point in time with its objective to minimise, monitor, and control the probability of unfortunate events.
Risk Management is similar to what we used to know in Shipping under Loss Prevention today, but it’s a different perspective and with a broader scope. Loss prevention is mainly driven by the insurer’s view. Risk Management is done from a company’s point of view.
Our risk management service helps companies prevent losses before they occur. Beyond vessel condition and crew, we assess contracts, obligations, and organisational structures. We tailor solutions for the maritime industry, either full-scale or subject-specific, to reduce exposure and strengthen resilience.
The concept of Owners Protecting Agents differs from that of Port Agents. In most cases, the port agent is appointed by the charterer of the vessel, whose interests may not always align with those of the owner. Since owners and charterers often have different priorities, it can become necessary for owners to appoint their own agent to safeguard and protect their interests.
He is needed whenever vessel owners require independent representation, especially when the appointed port agent represents the charterer’s interests.
We safeguards the rights of owners during port calls, ensuring their priorities are not compromised. By monitoring port activities and agency dealings, the protecting agent provides owners with transparency, fairness, and peace of mind.
Port Agency is a critical function in shipping; efficient performance can save time and generate profit, while poor handling can result in costly delays and losses. We provide comprehensive Port Agency services for both shipping lines and tramp vessels, delivered through our Group Companies in Iraq, our Sister Companies in Sudan, and our trusted Principals in Saudi Arabia.
It is needed whenever a vessel enters a port and requires full logistical, legal, and operational support to complete its call efficiently.
What does a Port Agency do?
The port agent arranges for cargo handling, crew matters, port formalities, and smooth vessel turnaround. A reliable agency can save significant costs and time, while poor performance can cause losses. We provide complete Port Agency services through our regional group and partners.
Compliance in the maritime industry goes beyond internal policies and regulations. Operating in a global environment means navigating international laws, financing agreements, and sanctions regimes, all of which can create serious risks if overlooked.
A proper compliance review should include sanctions and embargo checks, contractual obligation assessments, competition law guidance, and anti-bribery training.
Our services are designed for maritime companies that may not have the resources to employ a full-time compliance specialist. Whether it’s screening business partners, verifying sanctioned cargoes, or reviewing contractual risks, our tailor-made compliance packages provide the protection and support needed to keep your operations secure and compliant.
Our Risk Management and Compliance expertise is not limited to the maritime industry alone. These services are equally valuable to any business or organization that needs professional guidance but does not have the in-house resources to manage such complex matters. We provide tailored solutions to help companies identify risks, remain compliant with global regulations, and safeguard their operations. Entities seeking reliable, cost-effective support are encouraged to contact us for assistance.
We provide Risk Management and Compliance not only for the maritime industry but also for any business in need of expert support. Companies without in-house resources can rely on our tailored solutions to manage risks, ensure compliance, and safeguard their operations.
Whatever the case may be, that’s where Al Mushtaraka’s tailor-made compliance package gives you the support you need.
From urgent incidents to long-term partnerships, we are always within reach. Contact us through phone, email, or our offices worldwide.
